Head Seattle University women's basketball coach Joan Bonvicini announced the signing of three student-athlete's to National Letters of Intent. Joining the Redhawks for the 2011-12 campaign are: Monique Abbs (Phoenix, Ariz.), Renee Dillard-Brown (Seattle, Wash.) and Kim Flournoy (San Diego, Calif.).

"I am extremely excited Monique, Renee and Kim are joining our program," said the second season head coach. "This class is made up players who are going to definitely have a major impact in our program. They are standout student-athletes and will represent Seattle U in a top notch manner. They are great additions to our team and will help us continue to build a winning program."

Monique Abbs

Point Guard · 5-6 · Phoenix, Ariz./Moon Valley High School

Phoenix, Ariz. native Monique Abbs brings athleticism and speed to the Redhawks. A three-sport athlete at Moon Valley High School, she is coming off a standout junior season where she averaged 18.2 points, 2.4 rebounds, 2.4 assists and two steals per game. She capped off the season by being named to the Arizona Republic All-State Second Team. With Seattle U, Abbs will be looked to become an offensive leader at point guard.

Coach Bonvicini on Abbs: "Monique was a diamond in the rough we found, since she was under recruited. She is a big scorer, excellent defender and a tremendous leader. She has a great jump shot and will add a lot of athleticism at the point guard position."

Renee Dillard-Brown

Forward · 6-1 · Seattle, Wash./Garfield

Renee Dillard-Brown, a local Seattle product, adds size and skill to the post position for the Redhawks. The 6-1 forward helped guide nearby Garfield High School to a 17 win season, behind 7.3 points and 6.3 boards per game, and a state tournament appearance. She will add versatility to the SU lineup with her quickness, height and solid defensive game.

Coach Bonvicini on Dillard-Brown: "I am excited to get such a talented local product like Renee. She is a tremendous athlete, versatile and quick. She can hit the jumper and take people to the basket. Renee, a left handed shooter, will also add another dimension to our offensive game."

Kim Flournoy

Guard · 5-9 · San Diego, Calif./Horizon Christian High School

Guard Kim Flournoy will add speed and quickness to the Redhawk lineup. She is coming off a junior season where she was named to the All-Coastal South Second Team, after averaging 13.8 points, 8.3 rebounds and 2.4 steals. She also led the league in blocked shots, with 1.7 per game. Flournoy will provide a strong presence on the court and will be looked to be a top scorer for Seattle U.

Coach Bonvicini on Flournoy: "Kim is a great athlete, as she has excelled both in basketball and track. She is a wonderful addition to our program, adding speed and athleticism. She has a scoring mentality, which will boost our offensive game."

Behind a trio of solid student-athletes, Bonvicini will continue to build the Seattle U program into a prominent Division I program. She will look to add to the incoming class of 2011-12 during the spring signing period.
