The Seattle University women's golf team improved by 12 strokes from Monday's first round to Tuesday's second round, moving up in the final standings into a tie for 13th place at the conclusion of the Lamkin Grip Cal Poly Invitational at the Cypress Ridge Golf Course.

Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) shot 79 in Tuesday's final round for a two-day total of 156 (+10), good enough for a tie for 21st place in the final standings. Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) posted a final-round score of 84, finishing in a tie for 60th place with a 36-hole score of 167 (+21).

Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) cut five strokes off her first-round score Tuesday, posting an 82 for a two-round total of 169 (+23) to finish in a tie for 64th place. Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) improved her score by 10 strokes, shooting 80 in the second round for a final score of 170 (+24) to finish in a tie for 67th place.

After opening the tournament with a score of 337, Seattle University combined for a second-round total of 325 (+33) for a two-day total of 662 (+78), pulling into a tie with Cal State Bakersfield after being seven strokes behind the Roadrunners after the first day of competition. Led by Cook and Quinn, who tied for the best score individually on the par-3 holes at two-under-par, the Redhawks led all 17 teams in par-3 scoring at 10-over-par.

Northern Arizona shot 302 in the second round to earn the team title with a final score of 612 (+28), three strokes ahead of Fresno State. Individually, Alexa Kim of Northern Arizona earned medalist honors by shooting even-par 73 in the second round for a 36-hole total of 150 (+4), one stroke ahead of three golfers.

The Seattle University women's golf team will next compete in the spring season. That season will culminate with the West Coast Conference Women's Golf Championships April 18-19, 2011, at a course to be determined in Northern California.
