After a quiet first half, where both sides could not get a shot off on target, the Redhawk offense got aggressive and possessed the ball early in the second half. In the 56th minute sophomore transfer Emma Levy (Sammamish, Wash.) got Seattle U onto the board, scoring her fifth goal of the season. The SU striker took control of the ball and beat the Bears' goalkeeper Courtney Seelhorst in a one-on-one drive to take a 1-0 lead.
The Redhawks momentum did not slow down Baylor, as they subbed in six players to put fresh legs on the field. Less than 10 minutes after Levy's go-ahead goal, BU equalized the game off a converted penalty kick. Seattle U committed a foul in the box and Baylor's Hanna Gilmore connected the ball to the back of the net.
Following the equalizing goal, SU struggled to get offensive control of the ball. They were only able fire off a pair of shots, from Shawna Anderson (Pasco, Wash.) and Kara Kuttler (Redmond, Wash.) to conclude final period of regulation.
In the first overtime period Seattle U was held without a shot, while Baylor sent in one wide of the goal. Much of the play was seen between the 18's, sending the game into double overtime. In the final overtime period, the Redhawks outshot the Bears 3-1, with both squads have a shot on target. Defensively, Seattle U's backline played well to hold off Baylor from getting a go-ahead goal and stayed composed during the extra minutes of overtime.
"We played a good game today, considering we were missing two of our starting backs," said head coach Julie Woodward. "We faced adversity today against a good Baylor team, so I am glad we are able to come away with this result."
Seattle U (9-4-1) extended their unbeaten streak to six with the draw. They will return to action on Sunday, Oct. 17, when they travel to San Luis Obispo, Calif. to take on the Cal Poly Mustangs in a 12 noon contest.
