Junior Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) shot two-under-par 70 in the second round of the Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate Tuesday morning, moving her into a tie for second place and within two shots of the leader after 36 holes of the tournament at the New Mexico State University Golf Course.

McCleary notched three birdies and one bogey during her second competitive circuit of the course. She is two strokes behind Jaclyn Jansen of Baylor, who shot 75 (+3) during the second round but maintained the lead with a cumulative score of 140 (-4). McCleary, posting the second-lowest score of the round, is tied with Kelsey Kipp of North Texas and Michelle Park of UC Irvine at 142 (-2).

"This is a great field, and Caitlin has stepped up her game over the first two rounds to be competitive," head women's golf coach Don Rasmussen said. "She has played solid golf during the first two days and is a major reason why the team is posting its lowest scores of the season."

Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) is tied for 65th place after shooting 82 in the second round for a two-day total of 159 (+15), while Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) also shot 82 Tuesday and is in a tie for 67th place with a two-round score of 160 (+16). Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) made an eight-stroke improvement from the first round to the second round, posting a score of 77 for a cumulative score of 162 (+18) to put herself in a tie for 70th place, and Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) shot 85 and is tied for 75th place with a two-day total of 169 (+25).

For the second straight day, Seattle University posted a team score of 311 (+23) and is currently in 14th place in the team standings at 622 (+46), five shots behind Hawaii. Host school New Mexico State pulled into a tie with Baylor after the second round, with each team notching a 36-hole score of 580 (+4), seven shots ahead of UTEP.

The final round of Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate tournament is scheduled to begin Wednesday at 8 a.m. local time.
