"It was great to get back out there with the team for our first official practice," said Bonvicini. "Our returners have made strides in the offseason and we have several great newcomers. Overall we are much more athletic, faster and we have depth. We still have things we are going to need to work on, but we are much more improved from where we were last year."
The Redhawks, behind six returners and seven newcomers, have their eye on Saturday, Nov. 12. The day they have been looking forward to since last March, when they concluded the 2009-10 season. They will open up the regular season with Cal Poly in a 7 p.m. contest in the Connolly Center. Prior to their first official game, they will host an exhibition contest versus the Academy of Art on Saturday, Nov. 6, at 5 p.m.
Until then, veterans like Tatiana Heck (Mountlake Terrace, Wash.) and Elle Kerfoot (Surrey, B.C.) will continue to mentor the fresh faces on the roster.
"I am very excited for this year," said Heck. "We have a great group with a lot of talent and dedication, which will take us far this season."
