This Week for the Redhawks: The Seattle University men's soccer (2-4-2) team will open Mountain Pacific Sports Federation conference play this weekend with the Cal State Bakersfield Roadrunners (5-3) on Sunday, Oct. 3. First kick is set for 2:30 p.m. Sunday's match will be one of two meetings between SU and CSUB this season. They will meet again on Sunday, Nov. 7, to close out the regular season.
Last Time Out: Behind senior Ed Walugembe's 90th minute goal, the Redhawks took the then-No. 24 Portland Pilots to a 1-1 double overtime draw on Sept. 26. It was Seattle U's best result this season versus a ranked opponent this year. The Redhawks opened up the weekend at crosstown rival the University of Washington. Their offense was stymied, as they fell 2-0 on Sept. 24.
Agoos' Thoughts: "We are looking forward to opening up conference play this weekend with Bakersfield. They are a solid team and have seen success during the non-conference half of the year," said head coach Brad Agoos.

Last Minute Heroics: Ed Walugembe helped guide the Redhawks to a 1-1 double overtime draw with last second heroics versus then-No. 24 Portland on Sept. 26. The senior forward received a cross from classmate Sean Morris in the 90th minute. Walugembe controlled the ball and knocked in the equalizer to send the game into extra periods. The goal was Walugembe's first time seeing the back of the net this season.
Versus Ranked Opponents: The Redhawks have played a pair of ranked opponents this season. They kicked off the year with then-No. 5 Tulsa on Sept. 4, and most recently took on then-No. 24 Portland on Sept. 26. Versus both ranked teams, SU has played very competitively and their offense has only been outscored 4-2 by the ranked squads.
Looking at the MPSF: With conference play opening this weekend, the San Jose State Spartans are top team following non-conference play. SJSU is 6-3, with CSU Bakersfield and Sacramento State each holding five wins each. All other teams in both the Mountain and Pacific Divisions have two or three victories.
Dizdar a National Save Leader: Goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar is No. 3 nationally in saves per game thus far. In eight consecutive starts, he has made 55 saves averaging 6.88 per game. He also has a pair of shutouts under his belt this year.
At Home: In their last two home contests, the Redhawks have put together a pair of double overtime draws versus top notch opponents in Michigan and then-No. 24 Portland. They are looking for their first home win of the season this weekend.
Scouting Cal State Bakersfield: The Roadrunners of Cal State Bakersfield travel to the Northwest following their 2-1 loss to Cal Poly on Sept. 29. This season CSUB holds a 5-3 overall record.
