This Week for the Redhawks: After a perfect weekend at the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament, the Seattle University men's soccer team returns to the Emerald City to face a pair of top notch opponents. The Redhawks will participate in their fourth consecutive tournament this weekend, as they will take part in the Husky Fever Classic hosted by the University of Washington. Seattle U (2-3-1) will open with UW (3-1-1) on Friday, Sept. 24, in a 7 p.m. match on the Washington campus. Two days later, they will conclude the classic with the University of Portland (2-1-2). The Redhawks final game of the tournament will be hosted at Championship Field, allowing SU to host UP on their home field. First kick is slated for 4 p.m.
Last Time Out: The Redhawks had their best weekend performance of the young season. The squad won Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament as they went undefeated earning a pair of 1-0 shutouts. They opened with Central Arkansas on Sept. 17. Sean Morris converted a penalty kick midway through the second half to guide SU to their first win of the year. Two days later, freshman Brady Ballew sent in a first half goal to lead the Redhawks to a 1-0 shutout over UC Davis.
Agoos' Thoughts: "This weekend will feature two great opponents in Washington and Portland. Both teams will provide a great challenge for the guys, but we are looking forward to playing at UW and hosting the Pilots. It is always great to play both these programs, as they are biggest Northwest rivals," said head coach Brad Agoos.

Husky Fever Classic: The Redhawks will take part in their fourth consecutive tournament this weekend at the Husky Fever Classic hosted by the University of Washington. The Redhawks will travel to Washington for their match versus the Huskies on Friday, Sept. 24, at 7 p.m. They will close out the weekend hosting their final contest of the tournament. SU will take on Portland on Sunday, Sept. 26, at 4 p.m.

OSU Tournament Champs!: The Redhawks earned Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament title after going a perfect 2-0 over the weekend. They share the title with tournament host Oregon State, who also went undefeated on the weekend.
Dizdar Named MPSF Player of the Week: Senior goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar was named Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Player of the Week after posting a pair of 1-0 shutouts this past weekend at the OSU Tournament. Behind a pair of clean sheets, he tallied 13 saves to bring his season total to 41. He is the first Redhawk to earn the conference honor this season.
Three Named to the All-Tournament Team: Brandon Hamer, Sean Morris and David Raney represented the Redhawks on the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike All-Tournament Team. Hamer and Raney were part of the SU backline that shutout both opponents on the weekend, while Morris converted the Redhawks penalty kick versus Central Arkansas (9/17).
Morris' PK Guides SU to First Win: Captain Sean Morris slammed in a second half penalty kick versus Central Arkansas (9/17) to lead the Redhawks to their first win of the year. Following the weekend of action he was named to the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike All-Tournament Team.
Hamer Named to Third Consecutive All-Tournament Team: After transitioning into a member of the Redhawk backline, Brandon Hamer has taken to his new role solidly. He has been named to three consecutive all-tournament teams this season, at the SMU Classic, the Seattle University Tournament and most recently at the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament. The Carmichael, Calif. native was also named GoSeattleU.com's Featured Student-Athlete of the Week for his performance both on and off the field.
Raney's Back: After suffering injuries the past consecutive seasons, junior captain David Raney has returned to action without missing a beat. He has seen action in all six contests, starting all games played on the backline. He earned his first DI honor this past weekend at the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament.
Solid Weekend of Work: The Redhawks earned their first victory of the year with a 1-0 win over Central Arkansas (9/17) and followed that with a second 1-0 shutout over UC Davis (9/19). Capping off the weekend they earned the tournament title.
Rookie Scores First Career Goal: Freshman Brady Ballew scored his first career goal versus UC Davis on Sept. 19. His first half goal, served up from Marshall Kosaka, was the difference maker in SU's 1-0 shutout. The victory kept the Redhawks perfect on the weekend at the Oregon State Hensor/Zaher Nike Tournament.
Scouting Washington: The Huskies of the University of Washington (3-1-1) are coming off a 4-1 upset over then-No. 15 Portland, in Portland, Ore. UW stunned the Pilots behind four different goal scorers, including goals from the team's offensive leaders Daniel Gray and Brent Richards. Both Husky players have three goals on the season, with Richards also tallying an assist on the year.
Defensively, they have tallied a pair of shutouts this year. They earned a 1-0 win over Northern Illinois on Sept. 5, and took Cal State Northridge to a 0-0 double overtime draw on Sept. 10. UW has split time between the pipes between two goalkeepers. Stephen Fung has played in three contests and sports a 2-0-1 record and one of the team's shutouts. In 290:00 minutes, he's tallied 13 saves and a 0.62 goals against average. He has allowed two goals this season. Also seeing time between the posts is Spencer Richey, who has played in two contests. He has allowed two goals, posting a 1.00 goals against average and five saves. He has a 1-1 overall record and a shutout under his belt.
Washington will take on Gonzaga on Wednesday, Sept. 22, before hosting the Redhawks.
In their last meeting, the Redhawks opened the 2009 campaign with the Huskies on Sept. 1. UW's Ryan Moore scored a second half goal to edge Seattle U 1-0 in their season opener at Championship Field.
Scouting Portland: Following their 4-1 loss to the Washington Huskies on Sept. 18, at home the Portland Pilots fell out of the national ranking poll. They were ranked No. 15 last week, but now are only regionally ranked. Portland currently sports a 2-1-2 overall record, only playing on contest on the road this year that they won. They defeated then-No. 22 New Mexico 2-1 on Sept. 12.
Luke Ryan leads the UP offense going into this weekend's action. He has played in all five contests this season, scoring three goals for six points. Steven Evans has served up four assists.
Austin Guerrero has played all 490:00 minutes of action in goal for the Pilots. He's tallied 28 saves, a shutout and a goals against average of 1.65. He's allowed nine goals this season.
In their last meeting, the Redhawks fell 4-2 to UP on Nov. 12, in Portland, Ore. After taking a first half 2-1 lead, off goals from Will Banchero and Derek Rogalsky, the Pilots went on to score three goals in the second half to earn the victory to conclude the 2009 season.
