"I'm not surprised; they both ran great races. It's great that Seattle U was able to have both runners represented in the same week," said head coach Trisha Steidl.
Barkhaus ran the 8k men's invite in 24:57.94, placing 23rd out of 99 competitors. His time is currently the top 8k time in the Great West Conference so far this season.
Talty placed 25th out of 93 runners in the 6k women's invite with a time of 22:13.56. The first year runner has been the team's top finisher in both events she has competed in this season.
Other runners nominated this week included Chicago State's Matthew Jordan and Jennifer Sanford, Houston Baptist's Mat Perri and Jessica Whitt, NJIT's Brian Mendez and Ewelina Marut, and Texas-Pan American's Mathew Kotut and Lilian Lagat.
Seattle University now has two weeks to prepare for hosting the Emerald City Open on Saturday, Oct. 2nd at Lower Woodland Park.
