Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) shot the best round of the day for Seattle University, posting a score of 85 (+13) to find herself in a tie for 46th place. Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) was right behind her with an 86 (+14) to finish the first day in a tie for 51st place, while Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.) is alone in 55th place after the first round with an 88 (+16).
Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) posted a first-round score of 89 (+17) to put herself in a tie for 56th place, and Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) is currently in a tie for 60th place after an opening-round score of 91 (+19). As a team, Seattle University posted a cumulative score of 348 (+60), nine strokes behind 11th-place Eastern Washington.
The University of Montana currently leads the team standings after shooting 313 (+25) in the first round, one stroke ahead of Washington State. In the individual standings, Victoria Fallgren of Gonzaga holds the lead after the opening round with a 74 (+2), one stroke ahead of a four-way tie for second place.
Seattle University continues its participation in the Cougar Cup, with the second round scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 21, and the third and final round set for Wednesday, Sept. 22.
