Behind a pair of victories this weekend, the Seattle University men's soccer team concluded the Oregon State Henson/Zaher Nike Classic with a perfect 2-0 record. A first half goal by freshman Brady Ballew (Marysville, Wash.) was the difference maker in the Redhawks 1-0 shutout over UC Davis Sunday afternoon in Corvallis, Ore.

"I am really proud of the guys for their performance today," commented head coach Brad Agoos. "We got an early goal and defended well. It was good to come away with a pair of road wins."

Agoos had impeccable timing, as he subbed in Marshall Kosaka (Burien, Wash.) in the 21st minute. Forty-five seconds later Kosaka served up an assist from the midfield to an oncoming Ballew, who shot it into the bottom left side of the goal. It was the Redhawk newcomer's first career goal.

The game was controlled by the Seattle U defense. Anchored by Ryan Blair (Albuquerque, N.M.), Kevin Cook (Gresham, Ore.), Brandon Hamer (Carmichael, Calif.) and David Raney (Lynnwood, Wash.), the SU backline was strong and organized. Senior goalkeeper Ivan Dizdar (Croatia) had standout performance between the pipes, as well. The Redhawk defense stopped all 10 of UC Davis' shots, with Dizdar tallying eight saves in the performance.

Seattle U (2-3-1) returns to the Emerald City for a big weekend at the Husky Soccer Classic. On Friday, Sept. 24, the Redhawks will take on the University of Washington at 7 p.m. at UW. SU will close out the weekend hosting perennial soccer powerhouse the University of Portland on Sunday, Sept. 26, in a 4 p.m. matchup.

An all-tournament team will be announced following the conclusion of the Oregon State - Central Arkansas game.
