The Seattle University women's golf team started the 2010-11 season with 36 holes at the Circling Raven Golf Course, posting a two-round total of 639 to finish Monday in 18th place heading into the third and final round of the Circling Raven Collegiate Invitational, hosted by Gonzaga University.

Junior Caitlin McCleary (The Dalles, Ore.) led the way in each round for Seattle U, posting scores of 76 and 77 for a cumulative score of 153 (+9), good enough for a tie for 26th place in the individual standings. Sophomore Shannon Quinn (Shoreline, Wash.) shot rounds of 79 and 82 for a two-round total of 161 (+17) to finish the first day in a tie for 73rd place.

Lori Pearson (Seattle, Wash.) improved by eight strokes between the two rounds, following an 86 with a 78 to finish the day tied for 85th place with a score of 164 (+20), one stroke ahead of teammate Christine Cook (Yakima, Wash.), who finished in a tie for 90th place after scores of 80 and 85 gave her a two-round total of 165 (+21). Playing in her first collegiate tournament, freshman Nicole Gaddie (Salt Lake City, Utah) followed a 92 with an 81 for a two-round total of 173 (+29) to finish the day in 107th place.

As a team, the Redhawks posted scores of 321 (+33) and 318 (+30) for a two-round total of 639 (+63), four strokes ahead of Weber State and just four strokes behind Southern Utah. BYU currently holds the team lead with a score of 600 (+24), one stroke ahead of Northern Arizona. Tiffany Schoning of Portland State holds the individual lead after shooting 144 (even) over the two rounds, one stroke ahead of three players.

Seattle University will join the rest of the field in an 8 a.m. shotgun start on Tuesday for the final round, with the Redhawk players starting on the 14th, 15th, and 16th holes.
