Boise State outshot the Redhawks in the first half 8-4, creating plenty of offensive opportunities for themselves. The one that counted came from the Broncos' Katy Oehring at 19:30 after beating Seattle U goalie Madison Goverde (Snohomish, Wash.) to the left and scoring on an open net. Late in the period, freshman Ava Ames (Seattle, Wash.) attempted to even it up, but BSU's keeper Liz Ruiz made the second of her two saves for the half.
The second of Boise's goals came at 58:33 from Ashley Walsh off a rebound from Chelsea Robinson's corner kick. The Redhawks continued to battle with three more shots on goal, including freshman Heather Thomas' (Woodinville, Wash.) second header attempt, but were unable to connect.
Boise State was able to shut down any Seattle U last attempts in the final ten minutes by drawing fouls and controlling the offensive tempo, allowing the time to wind down.
Seattle University will look to come back from this weekend back at home against Cleveland State on Sunday, Sept. 19th. The match begins at noon at Championship Field and live stats will be available on GoSeattleU.com.
