Riding a four game win streak, the Seattle University women's soccer team earned a NSCAA No. 9 regional west ranking. This is the first time the Redhawks (4-2) have earned a regional ranking since reclassifying back into full NCAA Division I status. Seattle U is great soccer company with six West Coast Conference institutions being named to the list, including the University of Portland, who currently holds a No. 4 national ranking, topping the list.
The Redhawks are currently coming off a 2-0 shutout victory over the WCC's Gonzaga University, who fell out of west region rankings following the loss. Sophomore Emma Levy (Sammamish, Wash.) has been a solid impact player since transferring to SU this fall. She's dished out a pair of assists and has scored a goal. Senior Kara Kuttler (Redmond, Wash.) has also been an offensive threat for the Redhawks. She's tallied a goal and an assist, and has fired off a team-leading 24 shots in SU's six games played. Defensively, Seattle U has put together a pair of shutouts on the year.
Seattle U will return to action this week on the road, beginning with a Thursday, Sept. 9, contest at Idaho State in Pocatello, Idaho at 4 p.m. PT. The team will then travel to Boise, Idaho to square off with the Broncos of Boise State in match on Sunday, Sept. 12. First kick is slated for noon PT.
