De la Cruz, who made his collegiate debut this past weekend at the tournament, was an immediate impact player. He started both contests and saw every minute in the midfield. The Redhawk rookie made his first college start on Sept. 4, against then-No. 5 Tulsa and played the full 90 in SU's contest against tournament host Southern Methodist.
Veteran defender Hamer started and played every minute of Seattle U's pair of matches in the backline. He was an integral part of the Redhawk defense, providing veteran leadership for the young SU team.
The Redhawks head home to open up the home half of the 2010 campaign with the Seattle University Tournament. SU will open up with Gonzaga on Friday, Sept. 10, in a 3:30 p.m. match. Two days later, Seattle U will conclude the weekend with Michigan in a 1:30 p.m. contest.
