Why did you choose to come to Seattle University?

I fell in love with the city, the size of the campus, and the student body. I wanted to see something completely different from California. It was actually kind of an ironic choice that fell in my lap. I hadn’t even heard of it until after I had applied to the rest of my schools and my counselor just suggested it to me. I love the small class sizes. I love its mission and location. You become a name rather than a number.

What class at Seattle U have you enjoyed the most?

It’s probably a tie between my Health Psychology class and the Care and Prevention of Athletic Injury. The injury one was completely applicable and gave me an idea and perspective on what I could actually do as a career, and there was a lot of hands on action and outside hours in physical therapy clinics and other opportunities. Health psych was well taught and also very applicable to life in general and the career path I want to go into.

What career path is that?

My plan is to go to grad school in a year or so. I’ll probably do something along the lines of sport performance psychology. My goal is to work with college-age athletes and below. I want to at least get my masters, if not my doctorate.

What professor has influenced you the most?

Professor Schulz. I had her for writing for research and psychology. She changed the way I looked at not only psychology but reading and analyzing in general, and also in the way to articulate and present. It was also a huge motivation. She helped me with life, and direction not only for my career but a new way to look at academics in and out of the classroom. She kind of re-boosted my drive and willingness to learn. She brought out a new side of education in me.

What is your favorite activity during the off-season?

Probably pick-up soccer games. Baking. Exercise classes like Pilates. Swimming in the ocean. Baking. Random adventures. Hiking. Anything outside really. Baking. Photography.

What have you enjoyed most about your Redhawk Cross Country/Track & Field experience?

The camaraderie and friendships on the team; the connections and bonds I was able to create. Definitely the opportunity to be part of something bigger than myself. The opportunity to travel and compete against athletes so much better than me. Not to mention the experience and knowledge I’ve gained.

Favorite cartoon character?

Tigger from Winnie the Pooh, hands down. In fact, for two years, it was my camp name.
