Seattle University earned significant representation on the 2010 Pacific Coast Softball Conference (PCSC) Commissioner's Honor Roll, as eight players received the honor, part of the 113 student-athletes within the conference who were recognized Friday by PCSC Commissioner Ellen Moore.

As she did many times on the field over the past four years, senior Katie Antich (Spokane, Wash.) led the way for the Redhawks with a 4.0 grade point average during the 2009-10 academic year, one of only five student-athletes within the 12-team PCSC to post a 4.0 GPA for the year. Antich received her bachelor's degree in diagnostic ultrasound at Seattle University's undergraduate commencement last month at KeyArena at Seattle Center.

Fellow seniors Katie Petersen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) and Kelsey Reynolds (Kent, Wash.) also received the academic honor after completing their college careers with outstanding performances on the field and in the classroom. Petersen earned a 3.78 GPA in 2009-10 to finish her bachelor's degree requirements in humanities for teaching, while Reynolds posted a 3.17 GPA during the year and earned her bachelor's degree in accounting.

Juniors Katie Gould (Medford, Ore.) and Kate Zender (Enumclaw, Wash.) were also named for the academic honor, with Gould posting a 3.45 grade point average while majoring in sport and exercise science, and Zender, majoring in humanities for teaching, finishing the 2009-10 academic year with a 3.52 GPA.

Three freshmen got their collegiate careers off to a solid start both academically and athletically. Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) and Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.), both First Team All-PCSC Mountain Division honorees, were named to the honor roll, with Wilde posting a 3.82 grade point average as a pre-major and Ulrich earning a 3.10 GPA as a sport and exercise science major. Theresa Clark (Lakewood, Colo.), a Spanish and pre-med major, was also named to the honor roll with a 3.39 grade point average.

To make the honor roll, a student-athlete had to record a 3.0 cumulative grade point average for the 2009-10 academic year. Antich, Petersen, and Reynolds add this academic honor to being named Academic All-Great Northwest Athletic Conference in 2008.

Seattle University concluded the 2010 season with a 16-32-1 overall record, facing 2010 Women's College World Series participants Washington and Hawaii as well as Super Regional teams Oregon and BYU and regional finalist East Carolina during its first season playing a full Division I schedule. The Redhawks finished in third place in the PCSC Mountain Division with an 11-9 league mark behind Portland State (18-2) and Utah Valley (13-7).
