Jordan Jennings, a goalkeeper for the Seattle University men's soccer team from 2006 to 2008, saw action for Seattle Sounders FC in the Major League Soccer team's friendly against Celtic FC of the Scottish Premier League Sunday afternoon at Qwest Field.

Jennings, a member of the Tacoma Tide of the USL Premier Development League, was brought in after starting goalie Terry Boss was issued a red card in the 29th minute of the match. Jennings was in uniform as Boss' backup because Kasey Keller, the normal starting goalie for the Sounders, was not available due to a foot injury suffered in the team's previous match at DC United.

After giving up a penalty kick goal to Georgios Samaras, a member of the Greek World Cup squad, Jennings kept the Sounders in the match by making three saves. Celtic FC defeated Seattle Sounders FC, 2-1, before 45,631 fans, a much bigger crowd than Jennings saw the previous night when the Tacoma Tide and Washington Crossfire played to a 1-1 tie at Interbay Stadium.

"They gave me the game ball, I didn't want to leave anything in the locker room," Jennings told The Soccer Room. "This was a great experience, and I will remember it for the rest of my life, for sure."

"Jordan, for a kid who isn't normally on our team and has been playing PDL, a couple of divisions below, I thought he did well," Sounders coach Sigi Schmid said during his postgame press conference. "Jordan equated himself well and came up with a couple of good saves. He snagged a perfect one going to his left."

After transferring from the University of Washington, Jennings became the starting goalkeeper midway through the 2006 season and helped Seattle University win the Far West region and advance to the Elite Eight of the 2006 NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Tournament. Jennings finished his career at Seattle University with a 15-8-1 record and a 1.41 goals against average in almost 2,297 minutes in net. He graduated from Seattle University in 2009 with a bachelor's degree in liberal studies.

Jennings is the Tacoma Tide's all-time leader in goalkeeper saves, shutouts, and minutes, posting a 3-0-1 record with two shutouts and a 1.20 goals against average this season as the Tide are in the middle of the playoff race in the Northwest Division of the PDL Western Conference. His sister Chelsea Jennings saw action in 15 matches during her freshman season at Seattle University in 2009, scoring a goal in the Redhawks' 3-1 victory over Utah State on Sept. 20, 2009.

The Seattle University men's soccer team is preparing for the 2010 season, its second as a member of the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. As one of the sports "fast-tracked" by the Seattle U athletic department at the start of the reclassification process, the men's soccer team is eligible for the NCAA Tournament beginning this year.
