After welcoming alumni back for an exhibition match Saturday, Aug. 21, Seattle U will co-host The Invitational at Seattle with the University of Washington, but will not face the Huskies this season. The regular season begins Friday, Aug. 27, with an 11 a.m. match against Eastern Washington and a 7 p.m. contest against Cal Poly, both at the Connolly Center. The Redhawks will conclude the opening weekend with a match against Mercer University at the Connolly Center Saturday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m.
Seattle University heads to Tempe, Ariz., on Labor Day weekend for a tournament hosted by Arizona State, facing the host Sun Devils as well as Utah State and San Diego State. The Redhawks will return home for a Labor Day contest against the University of Oregon Monday, Sept. 6, beginning at 6 p.m. at the Connolly Center.
The team hits the road again for the San Jose State Tournament Sept. 10-11, going up against Cal State Northridge and Cal State Bakersfield before finishing up the weekend against the host Spartans. Seattle U will welcome Oregon State to the Connolly Center for the second time in three years Wednesday, Sept. 15, beginning at 6 p.m.
The Redhawks head east to Spokane, Wash., Sept. 17-18 for the Gonzaga Tournament, with matches against Idaho, Gonzaga, and Wyoming on the docket. The University of Portland makes the trip north to the Connolly Center for a 7 p.m. match Tuesday, Sept. 21.
Seattle U hits the Bay Area for matches at the University of San Francisco Saturday, Sept. 25, and at Santa Clara Sunday, Sept. 26. After a week off, the Redhawks travel to Cheney, Wash., for a contest at Eastern Washington Monday, Oct. 4, followed by a trip south to face the Vikings of Portland State Thursday, Oct. 7.
The team returns home to face Idaho State at the Connolly Center Saturday, Oct. 9, at 3 p.m., followed by a trip to San Diego, Calif., for a match against San Diego State Friday, Oct. 15. Seattle U welcomes Montana State to the Connolly Center for a matinee Sunday, Oct. 17, beginning at 2 p.m.
For the second time in three seasons, Seattle U will be making a trip to Florida, this time visiting North Florida on Oct. 21, Jacksonville University on Oct. 22, and Stetson on Oct. 23. The team will then get almost two weeks off before heading to Bakersfield, Calif., for two matches against Cal State Bakersfield Nov. 5-6.
After another two-week break, Seattle University will welcome Division I independent schools to the Connolly Center for the National Independent Tournament Nov. 20-21. The season will conclude with a trip to Long Beach, Calif., Thanksgiving weekend for matches against Akron and 2009 NCAA Tournament participant Long Beach State.
Head coach Shannon Ellis will enter her seventh season at the helm of the Seattle University program and will welcome back 10 letterwinners, including five starters and the libero, from the 2009 squad.
