Evasick pitched seven innings, allowing just five hits, two walks, and one run while striking out five Patriot batters. He stranded runners at second and third in the third inning, at first and third in the fourth inning, and at first and second in the seventh inning, one in which he induced a lineout and a groundout with those runners on base and one out.
Phil Parrish (Escalon, Calif.) came on in relief in the eighth inning and promptly allowed a single by Jason Krizan and a ground-rule double by Ryan Enos before hitting Ryan Behmanesh with a pitch. Brian Shannon (Olympia, Wash.) replaced Parrish, but Duncan McAlpine launched his 11th home run of the season over the right field wall to clear the bases. After two outs, Chris Haney walked, stole second base, and scored on a double to left field by Austin Knight.
Seattle U had taken the lead in the bottom of the seventh when Nick Latta (Tacoma, Wash.) was hit by a pitch, advanced to second on a wild pitch, and scored on a single by Mike Malland (Mukilteo, Wash.). Jared Stafford came on in relief of Patriot starter Ryan Millard and allowed only a single in 2 2/3 innings to pick up his second victory of the season.
The Redhawks scored in the bottom of the first inning, as Bryndon Ecklund (Elma, Wash.) and Cullen Hendrickson (Auburn, Wash.) put runners on first and third with one out. Josh Kalalau's (University Place, Wash.) groundout drove in Ecklund to give Seattle U a 1-0 lead. Dallas Baptist pulled into a 1-1 tie in the third inning when Tyler Robbins singled, stole second, advanced to third on a wild pitch, and scored on an RBI single by Knight.
Ecklund and Hendrickson each hit 3-for-4 to lead the Redhawks, with Malland going 2-for-4 and Buser notching the team's other hit. Robbins led the Patriots by going 3-for-5, while Knight and Enos each contributed two hits in five at-bats for Dallas Baptist. Millard pitched the first 6 1/3 innings for Dallas Baptist, allowing eight hits and two runs while striking out three batters.
