The Seattle University softball team did not need as much offense as it used on Friday, as the pitching kept Weber State at bay to give the Redhawks a doubleheader sweep over the Wildcats, 5-1 and 6-2, Saturday afternoon at Wildcat Field.

In game one, SeattleU took the lead in the second inning when Theresa Clark (Lakewood, Colo.) doubled to left-center field, advanced to third on a Megan MacIsaac (Santa Barbara, Calif.) single, and scored when Katie Gould (Medford, Ore.) reached on an error. Clark also scored in the fourth inning on a single by Allegra Wilde (Kennewick, Wash.), and Katie Antich (Spokane, Wash.) followed with a triple to right field that drove in MacIsaac and Wilde to give the Redhawks a 4-0 lead.

With two outs in the sixth inning, Kate Zender (Enumclaw, Wash.) pinch hit for Gould and proceeded to hit a triple to left field. Gould reentered the game and scored on a double by Wilde. Besides going 2-for-3 with a run scored and two runs driven in, Wilde also stole a base during the game. Antich and MacIsaac also earned two hits each during the contest.

Kelsey Reynolds (Kent, Wash.) earned her sixth victory of the season, scattering five hits and a walk in seven innings while striking out four batters. The only run she allowed was a solo home run in the sixth inning, but after a single, she set down the last five Weber State batters in order to close out the game.

In game two, Antich led off the bottom of the first by reaching on an error, and Katie Petersen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) followed with a single. Jessica Ulrich (Lewiston, Idaho) brought everyone home with a shot over the fence to give the Redhawks a 3-0 advantage. Ulrich drove in two more runs in the fifth inning with a triple that scored Caitlin Melnychenko (Scottsdale, Ariz.) and Petersen, with Clark posting a double to score Ulrich.

Hannah Klein (Camarillo, Calif.) earned the victory after pitching the first six innings and allowing just four hits, two walks, and two runs with three strikeouts. Klein set down the first nine batters and did not allow a hit until she gave up four doubles in the sixth and seventh innings. Reynolds relieved Klein in the seventh inning and induced three groundouts to end the game.

"Hannah and Kelsey threw great games for us today. Theresa Clark, Katie Antich, and Jessica Ulrich had big days at the plate. It was a great weekend for our team and we hope to keep it rolling next week when we go back to Utah," head coach Dan Powers said.

Seattle University (10-24-1, 6-2 PCSC) heads back on the road next weekend, this time to Orem, Utah, for a four-game conference series against Utah Valley University next Friday and Saturday, April 23 and 24, with doubleheaders beginning at 12 noon local time both days. SeattleU returns home in two weeks for a four-game PCSC series against Northern Colorado May 1-2.
