A three run sixth inning was not enough as the Seattle University softball team fell 5-3 to Oregon State to conclude the doubleheader between the squads. The Redhawks were swept by the Beavers, as they were shutout 6-0 in the early contest. Leading SeattleU on the day was the senior-freshman tandem of Katie Antich and Jessica Ulrich. The veteran Antich combined for two hits and a run, while the newcomer had a pair of hits and an RBI.

In the second game of the doubleheader, SU's offense was kept quiet until the sixth inning. After going down 5-0 heading into the sixth, Antich led the inning off with a single to shortstop. Following was Katie Petersen, who singled to the left side to advance Antich. After being held hitless in her first two at bats, Megan MacIssac singled to left center to load the bases. With no outs and the bases loaded, Ulrich came to the plate. She singled up the middle to score Antich and break the Redhawks scoring drought. The bases remained loaded for Jessica Amador, who was hitting in the five spot in the inning. Her contact sent Petersen home, but resulted in a double play. Concluding SeattleU's scoring run was freshman Allegra Wilde, who singled to shortstop to score MacIssac. With a runner on first, Katie Gould came to bat, but her fielder's choice concluded the inning.

The Redhawks attempted come-from-behind run was cut short, but their late effort was valiant after suffering a 6-0 loss to Oregon State in their opening game of the day. In that game, SU's offense was stymied, as they only had four hits to the Beavers nine. OSU was held to only a 1-0 advantage heading into the bottom of the fifth, behind a strong SU defense. Following four-and-a-half solid innings of play, the tides changed for the Redhawk defense as the Beavers took off on a four-run fifth inning and they added a final insurance run in the sixth.

SeattleU will look to bounce back from a tough two days in the state of Oregon, as they close out their six game road swing in British Columbia taking on Simon Fraser. First pitch is slated for 1 p.m. on Sunday, Mar. 28.
