At the start of its weekend trip to Colorado, the Seattle University men's tennis team lost to the U.S. Air Force Academy, 7-0, Friday evening at Cadet Gym.

Simon Meske (Tacoma, Wash.) had the best chance to pick up a point for SeattleU, winning the first set, 6-4, against Austin Francis and forcing the second set to a tiebreaker. However, Francis won the tiebreaker, 8-6, and proceeded to win the match thanks to a 10-4 victory in the third set super-tiebreaker.

Freshman Andrew Tran (Portland, Ore.) performed well in the number four singles position, pushing the first set to a tiebreaker, but Brett Rodgers of Air Force won the tiebreaker and then completed the straight-set victory (7-6 (7-4), 6-4). Rodgers was also part of the closest doubles set, as he and Taylor Soster held on to defeat Mark Shkretbtan (Redmond, Wash.) and Yusuke Kanehira (Setagaya, Japan) in the number one doubles position, 8-6.

Seattle University (3-9) continues its weekend trip with a match against Colorado Christian in Lakewood, Colo., Saturday, March 13, at 9 a.m. local time, followed by a neutral site contest against MAAC school Saint Peter's College Sunday, March 14, also at 9 a.m. local time.
