MOVING ON: The Seattle University baseball team looks to break into the win column this weekend as it heads south to face the University of Portland. With a 90 percent chance of rain forecast for Friday, that day's contest has been postponed to a later date, reducing the series to a three-game set. Another schedule change has just been made, as the teams will attempt to play a single game Saturday at 1 p.m., followed by a doubleheader on Sunday starting at 11 a.m.

SCOUTING PORTLAND: The Pilots enter the weekend series with a 3-0 record, starting their season with a 5-3 win over Concordia, an 11-7 victory over George Fox, and an 8-5 victory over Concordia. As a team, Portland is batting .367, has a 4.33 earned run average, and a .967 fielding percentage. Tyler Thompson started the season 6-for-8 with a triple, two runs scored, and four runs batted in. Kris Kauppila went 6-for-10 with three walks and five runs scored over the weekend. Zach Varce earned the victory in his first start of the season, striking out nine batters in six innings of work. Last season Portland finished with a 25-26 record, including a 7-14 record in West Coast Conference play.
SEATTLEU SCHEDULE CHANGES: The series against Alabama A&M set for April 9-11 has been cancelled. The new date to make up Friday's postponed game at Portland as well as any additional games to replace the ones lost with the Alabama A&M cancellation will be announced as soon as they are finalized.
