The Seattle Sports Commission (SSC) and Seattle Children's Hospital are continuing 75 years of tradition by bringing you the Sports Star of the Year, presented by MTR Western. Originally created by Royal Brougham and the Seattle Post-Intelligencer in 1935, the PI Sports Star of the Year award banquet celebrated the achievements of local athletes, coaches and others in the sports industry.

On January 19, 2010, the Sports Star of the Year awards will celebrate its 75th anniversary on the big stage at Benaroya Hall.  Recreated as a high-energy awards show, this event will continue to honor top local professional and amateur sports icons, and bring in new awards for an inspirational youth, best sports media figures, sports executives, and many others.

Starting December 1, 2009 and ending on January 15, 2010, the public will be able to vote on line at seattlesports.org/sportsstar for the Professional Sports Star of the Year, the Male Sports Star of the Year, Female Sports Star of the Year, and many others.  Be a part of history and join local and national sports celebrities at one of the longest running award shows in the country.
