Former Seattle University men's soccer standout, Cameron Weaver, has been signed by Major League Soccer's San Jose Earthquake. The Earthquake made the announcement through their website. Weaver will be added to the official roster upon completion of paper work.

For the past two seasons, Weaver has been playing professional soccer in Norway for FK Haugesund of the Norwegian Adeccoligaen. Last season for Haugesund, he scored 11 goals during the entire season, including nine in league play. During 2006 Weaver played for the Seattle Sounders, then with the USL First Division, scoring 18 goals in 27 matches. He tied for the league lead in goals and was named the Rookie of the Year that season.

Weaver played for two years at Seattle University after transferring from Skagit Valley College. In 2004, he helped lead the Redhawks to a 22-0-1 record and the NCAA Division II National Championship. In that season, Weaver scored eight goals and tallied 18 points in earning the GNAC Newcomer of the Year honors as well as All-GNAC second team honors. In his final season at SeattleU, Weaver led the team with nine goals and five assists in 18 games. He also earned First Team All-GNAC honors as well.

Fans can watch Weaver as he makes his return to Seattle, April 25 and June 13, when the Earthquake visit the Seattle Sounders FC at Qwest Field.
