The Redhawks had a strong and productive first half. They defended their early lead fruitfully, as they fired off 11 shots. Junior Kuttler, who earned her third assist on the season, had five shots in the game, including two on goal. Senior M'ily Reiter and freshman Taylor Bolibol each had a shot on goal, and Norquist had two. They kept the Rebels goalkeeper Alicia Lugo busy in the first period, as she tallied four saves in the first 45.
The tides changed in the second half, as Seattle only managed to get off three shots. The Nevada-based squad capitalized on the passive SU offense and had seven shots in the second period, including three on goal.
At the 74:07 minute mark, UNLV got on the board off a Katherine Orellana goal. After evening the score at one-all, the Redhawks worked to keep the ball out their half and tried to score the go-ahead goal. Things broke down again as regulation time ticked down when UNLV's Jenna Larkin received a pass from Amanda Forrester. She was able to take the ball into the SU box on a breakaway and score the game-winning goal at the 89:22 minute mark.
SU (5-7-1) will look to bounce back from their heartbreaking loss on Sunday, Oct. 4, when they take on tournament host San Diego State in a 2 p.m. contest. Live stats will be available on www.GoSeattleU.com.
