The season also includes family friendly pricing on tickets, an exciting lineup of games, shared marketing agreements, a new sales arrangement with Ticketmaster and a premium broadcast parternship, including a new "voice of the Redhawks."
"Seattle U is the team to watch this year," said Athletics Director Bill Hogan. "With a new venue at KeyArena at Seattle Center and new head coach, Cameron Dollar, we are poised for an exciting return to Division I basketball."
Prices for season tickets start at $40 and range to $150, with a limited number of front row seats for $500. The university is also offering a family plan of four season tickets for $290. Single game tickets range from $5 to $20. Season tickets and tickets for the home opener are on sale now; information is available through the Seattle U Athletics web site (www.goseattleu.com) and the Seattle U athletics ticket office by calling (206) 296-2835.
This will be the first time the men's basketball program has played a full slate of home games at Seattle Center since the 1979-80 season. Last season, nearly 5,000 fans came to KeyArena on Jan. 1 to see Seattle U pull out a 49-39 victory over Loyola Marymount.
"My players are working hard and ready to win this season," said Dollar. "We're so thankful for the incredible local support we've received and we have all the pieces in place for a historic season."
The games will be broadcast in a big way on radio and television. All games, both at KeyArena and on the road, will air on 710 ESPN Seattle, the 50,000-watt radio home for the Seattle Mariners and the Seattle Seahawks. Local radio personality Dave "The Groz" Grosby will provide the play-by-play as the new voice of the Redhawks.
At least six games will be televised by FSN Northwest. Four will be broadcast live from KeyArena: Fresno State (Nov. 19), Cal State Northridge (Jan. 19), Eastern Washington (Feb. 1) and Portland State (March 2). FSN will also televise the Jan. 6 game at Oregon State University and the Jan. 26 contest against the University of Washington at Bank of America Arena.
After an exhibition game against Pacific Lutheran at the Seattle University Connolly Center on Nov. 7, the team will begin the regular season with road contests at Oklahoma State (Nov. 14) and Portland (Nov. 17). The team will face Fresno State on Nov. 19 for the historic home opener. Weber State will also face Seattle U during the short homestand on Sunday afternoon, Nov. 22.
Seattle U next welcomes UC Irvine (Dec. 15) and Oakland (Dec. 17) to KeyArena before Christmas. KeyArena turns Ivy with the arrival of Harvard to face Seattle U on Jan. 2. Utah Valley (Jan. 16) and defending Big West tournament champion Cal State Northridge (Jan. 19) will be the next visitors to the Pacific Northwest.
Idaho comes to town Saturday, Jan. 30, with Big Sky member Eastern Washington making the trek across the mountains for a Feb. 1 contest. Sacramento State and UC Davis will visit KeyArena to play the back end of home-and-home series on Feb. 13 and Feb. 16, respectively. The 2009-2010 home schedule concludes with Cal State Bakersfield on Feb. 27 and two-time defending Big Sky tournament champion Portland State on March 2.
