BUILDING MOMENTUM: Coming off one of the biggest victories in recent SeattleU men's soccer history, the team heads south to Corvallis, Ore., for the Hensor/Zaher Memorial Classic, hosted by Oregon State. Friday evening, Seattle University will face Marist College, a member of the MAAC from Poughkeepsie, N.Y. Just over 15 hours later, the team will be back on the field, this time taking on MAC school Northern Illinois. With conference play just three weeks away, now is a good time for the squad to start finding its stride.

PEGGED FOR NATIONAL DUTY: Freshman John Pegg missed the Oregon State match and will miss this weekend's action after being selected for the Canadian U20 team that will be competing at the Francophone Games in Beirut, Lebanon, from Sept. 27 to Oct. 6. The Edmonton, Alberta, native has participated in the Canadian National Training Center program in the past. Pegg is expected to rejoin the Redhawks in time for the first conference match on Oct. 16.

SCOUTING MARIST: The Red Foxes come into the weekend with a 3-2-1 record. Marist was undefeated in its first four matches before losing contests to Fordham and Howard last weekend. Joe Touloumis leads the team with two goals, while Stephan Brossard has earned a goal and an assist so far this season. Goals have also been scored by Troy Confessore and Steven Morales, and Tim Garger has earned an assist for Marist. In net, Joe Pilla has played every second for the Red Foxes this season, compiling a 0.80 goals against average with an .815 save percentage and three shutouts.

SCOUTING NORTHERN ILLINOIS: The Huskies bring a 3-3-1 record into the weekend tournament. Northern Illinois is coming off a weekend in which it defeated Lafayette (5-0) and lost to South Carolina (1-0). Luis De La Cerda leads the team in scoring with three goals and one assist, while Brad Horton has also scored three goals and Josh Karsten has tallied two goals. Engebreth Faerden and Juan Hoyos lead the way in helpers with two assists each. Jordan Godsey has played the last six matches in net for the Huskies, earning a 3-2-1 record with a 0.64 goals against average, an .852 save percentage, and two shutouts.

2009 HONORS: Demaci Roussos was named MPSF Co-Player of the Week after scoring the game-winning goal in overtime against Oregon State last Saturday. Roussos became the first SeattleU athlete named Player of the Week by a Division I conference since the beginning of the transition to Division I last fall. Junior midfielder Sean Morris and Roussos were named to the All-Tournament Team at the Mike Berticelli Memorial Tournament in Notre Dame, Ind. The two players played well over the weekend, especially in Sunday's match against Indiana. Roussos had a chance to cut the Hoosier lead in half late in the game, but was turned away, while Morris continued to put his teammates in good position to score. This was the second honor for Morris this season, as he was named Featured Student-Athlete of the Week on GoSeattleU.com after scoring the game-tying goal at Tulsa on Sept. 5.
