head men’s basketball coach Cameron Dollar has announced that Freddy Wilson, a member of the squad that won the 3A state championship this past March, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend the school and join the men’s basketball program beginning in the 2009-10 academic year.
Wilson, a 6’2” guard, averaged 10.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 1.7 assists, and 1.8 steals per game as he helped post a 28-1 record and win its sixth state championship. It was the third straight tournament appearance for and the Quakers, as finished third in the state in 2007 and fifth in 2008.
In the Northwest Shootout, the annual all-star game featuring the top high school seniors from and , was named MVP after scoring a game-high 24 points to lead to a 101-80 victory over . played for the Seattle Rotary Select basketball team last summer.
“Freddy is a complete guard that affects the game in a variety of ways. He has a chance to be a very special player,” Dollar said.
joins a program coming off a 21-8 season which included 13 victories over Division I opponents. Seattle University will play a full Division I schedule as it enters Year Two of the reclassification process in 2009-10.
