The Seattle University men's and women's soccer teams welcome all alumni back this Saturday, May 2, for the annual alumni games and gathering, to take place at Championship Field and at Kells Irish Restaurant and Pub.
At 2 p.m. at Championship Field, the women's soccer team will host its alumni in the annual contest featuring both current and former players. That will be followed by the men's soccer third annual alumni 7v7 tournament. The competitive small-sided tournament combines players on the current team with alumni from the 41 years of the men's soccer program at Seattle University.
After the games, all alumni from both the men's and women's soccer programs are encouraged to head to Kells, located at 1916 Post Alley in Seattle, for a gathering of old friends and new acquaintances.
The Seattle University men's and women's soccer teams combined for a 23-8-4 record in 2008, including a 17-7-3 record against Division I programs. Both teams will play a full Division I schedule in 2009, with the men's soccer program joining the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation. As "fast-track" sports during the Division I reclassification process, the men's and women's soccer teams will be eligible for the NCAA Tournament beginning in the 2010 season.
