Katrina Schwab (, ) won both her singles and doubles matches and Audree Jenks (, ) also earned a victory in singles competition, but pulled out the doubles point and won enough singles matches to defeat , 5-2, at the Women’s Tennis Independent National Tournament at the .
Schwab teamed with Mikalea Peterson () and defeated Peggy Moore and Lia Tejoprayitno, 8-2, in the third doubles slot. However, (12-3) was able to win the doubles point as Lina Tejoprayitno and Yosefin Eliza defeated Jenks and Nicole Fleckenstein (, ) in the number one position, 8-3, while Dian Mayasari and Golda Rubina defeated Ariel Ohno (, ) and Whitney Cheng () in the number two doubles slot, 8-4.
At number one singles, Jenks came back from losing the first set, 6-1, to win the second set, 6-0, and was up 4-2 in the third set before Mayasari defaulted due to injury. Schwab defeated in the number five position in straight sets for SeattleU’s other victory of the contest (6-4, 6-0).
Eliza defeated Ohno in the number two singles position (6-0, 6-3), while Lina Tejoprayitno earned a straight-set victory over Fleckenstein in the number three position (6-1, 6-0). In the number four singles spot, Rubina defeated Cheng (6-4, 7-6 (8-6)), and Lia Tejoprayitno picked up a straight-set win over Aya Sugimoto (Poulsbo, Wash.) in the number six position (6-2, 6-3).
(4-7) will play two matches Saturday, beginning with an 8 a.m. contest against . The Redhawks will then face host school Texas-Pan American later Saturday afternoon at approximately 4 p.m. local time.
