The softball team could not manage any offense against the Pac-10’s Oregon State Beavers, as the home team swept Wednesday’s doubleheader with identical 8-0 run-rule shortened games at the OSU Softball Complex.

In the first game, took the early lead as Dani Chisholm led off the first inning with a double and scored on a SeattleU fielding error. After Paige Lowe singled to put two runners on base, Stefanie Ewing hit a home run to left-center field to give the Beavers a 4-0 advantage. In the bottom of the third inning, after Lowe walked, Audrey Roderfeld sent one out of the park to increase ’s lead to 6-0.

After three hitless innings, threatened to score in the fourth after singles by Jodie Schmehr (, ) and Lisa Hill () put runners on first and second with one out. However, a strikeout and a groundout ended the threat. In the bottom of the fourth inning, singles by Nikki Chandler, McKenna Lowe, Ashley Sanchez, and Paige Lowe produced two more Beaver runs. When SeattleU failed to score in the top of the fifth, the game ended due to the eight-run rule.

Paige Hall earned the victory for , giving up only three hits and a walk while striking out four batters in five innings of work. Kelsey Reynolds (, ) took the loss for , allowing ten hits and eight runs, seven of those earned, while walking one without a strikeout.

The second game started in a similar fashion, as Chisholm singled to lead off the first inning and scored when Paige Lowe hit a home run to left field. loaded the bases in the top of the second after singles by Hill, Sandra Hernandez (, ), and Hannah Klein (), but the runners were stranded without any runs scoring.

Oregon State (16-13) extended its lead in the bottom of the fourth inning, as Ewing led off with a double and DeAnn Young sent a shot down the left field line that went over the fence for a two-run home run. and pinch hitter Katelyn Miller followed with back-to-back home runs to give the Beavers a 6-0 lead. Oregon State ended the game in the fifth when Paige Lowe hit her second home run of the game, Roderfeld hit a double to left-center field, and pinch hitter Mary Claire Brenner drove in Roderfeld with a single to activate the eight-run rule.

Kelly Dyer earned the victory for , scattering five hits and a walk over five innings while striking out three batters. Klein suffered the loss for the Redhawks, giving up 11 hits and eight runs over four innings plus the first three batters of the fifth inning.

Seattle University (8-13) returns home for a couple of days before making the drive back to Oregon, this time stopping in Portland to face the Portland State Vikings Saturday, March 28, in a doubleheader starting at 12 noon.
