The Seattle University women’s tennis team won five of six singles matches and swept the doubles sets to defeat four-time defending NWAACC champion Bellevue Community College, 8-1, at the Robinswood Tennis Center.
Playing pro sets due to time constraints, Seattle University earned wins in the first four singles positions, as Audree Jenks (Albuquerque, N.M.) defeated Stephanie Tom, 8-1, Nicole Fleckenstein (Seattle, Wash.) defeated Estee Kaskes, 8-1, Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.) was victorious over Lauren Heino, 8-0, and Aya Sugimoto (Poulsbo, Wash.) earned a win over Janet Adisuwono, 8-0. In the number five singles position, Bellevue’s Vanessa Estes was able to pull out an 8-6 win over Megan Reinhartsen (Sammamish, Wash.), but Erin Colton-Enberg (Portland, Ore.) kept SeattleU’s momentum going with an 8-6 win over Dorine Rassaian in the number six position.
In doubles, Fleckenstein and Jenks defeated Tom and Heino, 8-0, Schwab and Mikalea Peterson (Spokane, Wash.) defeated Kaskes and Stella Dwifaradewi, 8-3, and Reinhartsen and Kathy Velasco (Federal Way, Wash.) earned an 8-3 win over Rassaian and Estes.
Seattle University will host Green River Community College Saturday, March 21, beginning at 4 p.m. at the SeattleU Tennis Courts. SeattleU will then welcome Pacific University of Oregon to the SeattleU Tennis Courts Sunday, April 5, beginning at 12 p.m.
