Dave Cox ? Head Coach ? Women’s Basketball ? 1980-2004

In 24-year career, 346 victories, most of any coach of any sport at Seattle University ... Record of 346-315 (.523) ... 12 winning seasons, including eight in a row from 1986-87 through 1993-94 ... Qualified for postseason 14 times in 17-year span ... Coached players to All-America status 19 times ... Teams in national rankings 12 times in 15-year span ... Named American Women’s Sports Federation All-American Coach three times (1987, 1989, 1993).

Roman Miller ? Athletic Administrator ? 1944-Present

Played on 1944-45 men’s basketball team before enlisting in the military during World War II ... Assisted in recruiting several top student-athletes to Seattle U  ... Walking history book of athletic knowledge ... Is a source of relating information about new talent for SeattleU basketball and baseball programs.

Larry McCauley ? 1958-1961

Rightfielder on team that went 79-34 during his career ... Two-time team MVP ... Hit .423 as freshman, followed with averages of .387 (sophomore), .355 (junior), and .378 (senior).

Bob Polaski ? 1969-1972

Four-year starter out of Gonzaga Prep in ... Leading hitter during freshman year of 1969 with .351 batting average

Jerry Watts ? 1963-1965

Dominating pitcher during time at SU ... Set school records for lowest ERA in a season (0.18) and in a career (1.62) ... Signed by Houston Colt ?45s in 1965 thanks to Roman Miller.

Men’s Basketball

Carl Ervin ? 1976-80

Scored 1,304 points during career, averaging 12.3 points per game ... Third on all-time list for assists with 534, most for any player in Division I era ... Third-most assists in single season with 179 in 1977-78

Joe Pehanick ? 1952-54

During 1953-54 season, led team on 26-game winning streak ... Third-highest scorer on the Pacific Coast with 20.5 points per game average, plus he pulled down ten rebounds per game.

Dick Stricklin ? 1954-57

Eighth on all-time scoring list with 1,595 ... Fourth on all-time rebounding list with 924 boards ... Averaged 18.8 points and 10.9 rebounds per game ... Second on free throw list as well with 495

Charlie Williams ? 1963-65

Captain of 1964-65 team ... Scored 1,181 points in three-year career ... Helped 1963-64 team advance to NCAA Tournament and defeat before losing to eventual national champion UCLA

Women’s Basketball

Amy Kuchan ? 1992-96

One of ten women’s basketball players to reach 1,000-point mark, finishing with 1,022 career points ... Second on all-time field goal percentage list (.576) and three of top ten single season percentages, including record of .612 in 1994-95.

Golf

Scott Alexander ? 1977-79

Won three tournaments in 1978, including ... Finished second once in 1978 and twice in 1979, U of Washington Invitational and Seattle U Invitational ... Washington State Amateur champion in 1979.

Men’s Soccer

Bill Colello ? 1988-92

Team captain for three seasons ... NAIA All-American in 1991 and 1992 ... Helped team with winning first NWCSC championship ... Assistant coach on SU national championship squads of 1997 and 2004.

Women’s Soccer

Keely Hartsough ? 1992-95

First Team NAIA All-American in 1993 and 1994, Honorable Mention All-American in 1995 ... 17 career assists, ninth all-time in SU history.

Nichole Sauvageau - 1999-2002

1999 Third Team NAIA All-American, Two-time Honorable Mention All-American ... All-time leading goal scorer with 45 career goals, also third all-time in points (110) and seventh in career assists (20).

Swimming

Elliott Kolbe ? 1998-2002

First-ever individual national champion in swimming ... 20-time NAIA All-American in career, including maximum eight honors in 2002, year team won NAIA National Championship ... Finished with five team records, two pool records, and five relay records.

1960 Golf Team

Perfect 19-0 record in dual matches ... Advanced to NCAA Finals, where team finished third ... Featured SU Athletic Hall of Famer Eddie Pearsall, who was named All-American, and long-time coach Dr. Tom Page ... Defeated Pacific Lutheran twice, and finished year with victories over Oregon and Oregon State.

2001-02 Men’s Swimming Team

Second team in Seattle University history to win national championship ... Defeated perennial power Simon Fraser to take crown ... 19 All-American swims during championships ... Six new school records set during competition ... Sport established at SU only four years before title (1997-98 first competitive season).
