After allowing Loyola Marymount to earn a come-from-behind victory 24 hours beforehand, the Seattle University softball team turned the tables on the Lions, scoring four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to earn a 6-5 victory on the final day of the LMU Invitational Sunday at Smith Field.
Down 5-2, started its rally with one out as Cassie Cueto (, ) was hit by a pitch and Jamie Foote () singled through the right side. Katie Antich (, ) walked to load the bases and, after a pitching change, Megan MacIsaac () singled to score Cueto, with Katie Petersen (Mission Viejo, Calif.) also scoring when the centerfielder misplayed the ball. Lauren Berin (Lacey, ) ended the game when her blast to right-center field hit the top of the wall, scoring Antich and MacIsaac.
After Loyola Marymount scored a run in the top of the third inning, pulled ahead in the fourth inning when Lisa Hill () hit her third home run of the young season, scoring MacIsaac ahead of her. The Lions tied the game with a run in the fifth inning, and then scored three times in the top of the seventh inning to go ahead before the dramatic comeback by SeattleU.
Hannah Klein () picked up her second victory of the season, allowing nine hits and four walks during the contest. It was the fifth one-run game for the Redhawks to start the season, as they finish with victories over Illinois-Chicago and Loyola Marymount on their first weekend of Division I competition.
(2-3) will face future conference foe Friday, Feb. 27, at 12 noon at the Husky Softball Field to kick off the Husky Softball Classic hosted by nationally-ranked . The Redhawks will also take on later that day followed by two games against new program over the weekend.
