After leading the women’s basketball team in scoring in both games of the Husky Classic over the Thanksgiving weekend, sophomore Breanna Salley () was voted onto the All-Tournament Team, announced Sunday at the conclusion of the two-day tournament.
Making her first career start at Friday, Salley led all players with 23 points against the . She shot 6-of-14 from the field and 10-of-14 from the free throw line in 28 minutes of action. Salley also pulled down eight rebounds, earned two steals, and blocked two shots during the contest.
In the third-place game against Sunday, Salley fought through foul trouble to finish with 17 points, shooting 7-of-15 from the field. She also earned four rebounds, three assists, three steals, and two blocked shots in the overtime game against the Golden Flashes. Coming back into the game after picking up two quick fouls, Salley made back-to-back baskets to help Seattle University take a 29-22 lead with a 7-0 run.
Salley presently leads the team in scoring, averaging 20.3 points per game. She has also pulled down 18 rebounds and earned a team-high five blocked shots. Salley took a year off after playing at the during the 2006-07 season and was declared eligible to play in games on Nov. 19 after the NCAA granted a waiver of the year-in-residence rule.
Lele Hardy was named the MVP of the Husky Classic after leading the Clemson Tigers to the tournament title with an 85-67 win over . Joining Hardy and Salley on the All-Tournament Team are Whitney Hood of Clemson, Michelle Augustavo of , and Anna Kowalska of .
