Seattle University head volleyball coach Shannon Ellis has announced that Kelly Biette has signed a National Letter of Intent during the early signing period to come to Seattle University and join the volleyball program beginning in the 2009-10 academic year.

Biette is a 6’1” middle blocker from Holy Family High School in Brighton, Colo. This season as her team's captain, Biette helped lead Holy Family to a seventh place finish at the Colorado State 3A championships and was named first team Academic All-State for the third time and was also named first team All-Conference. During her junior season, she helped her team to a third place finish at the state tournament and was named second team All-Conference. During her time at Holy Family, Biette totaled 654 career kills, 457 digs, 197 blocks, and 104 aces.

“Kelly is a fantastic athlete who will help our team play faster and with more physicality. In addition, she is a strong student with strong character. The first time I met with her she absolutely blew me away with her maturity, passion, and drive. I am so pleased to welcome Kelly to our family. I expect great things from her,” Ellis said.

Seattle University is coming off its first season of NCAA Division I competition, which saw the Redhawks compete against six teams that at one point were ranked in the top 25 nationally including the University of Washington, Oregon, and UCLA. Biette will join an experienced squad next season as Seattle University will potentially return all but one member of the 2008 squad.
