The Seattle University athletic department today announced a partnership with FSN Northwest to broadcast three Seattle University men’s basketball games at the Great Alaska Shootout on November 27th ? 29th.

FSN Northwest will broadcast Seattle University’s first round game against Louisiana Tech Thursday, Nov. 27, beginning at 6 p.m. Pacific time (5 p.m. local time). Seattle University will face either San Diego State or Western Carolina in its second game Friday, Nov. 28, at either 3 p.m. or 9 p.m. Pacific time. FSN will broadcast the games at both times to ensure that Redhawk fans don’t miss a minute of action from the tournament. Fans can also watch the third and final game on FSN against Alaska-Anchorage, Portland State, Hampton, or Northern Illinois on Saturday, November 29th.

This brings the total of Seattle University games broadcast by FSN Northwest this season up to five. It was previously announced that FSN Northwest would be producing and broadcasting the Dec. 29 game between Seattle University and Oregon State in Corvallis, Ore., and the game on Jan. 1 between Loyola Marymount and Seattle University at KeyArena at the Seattle Center, Seattle U’s first home Division I game at the Seattle Center in 29 years.

“We are pleased to be entering into this partnership with FSN, and I believe this will be beneficial both to the growth of Seattle University athletics and to the expansion of FSN’s programming options within the Northwest,” Bill Hogan, Seattle University Director of Athletics, said. “We hope fans of Seattle University and of college basketball in general will tune in Thanksgiving weekend to see our student-athletes compete against Division I opposition.”

“Seattle University has injected some excitement into our local sports scene by stepping up to Division I competition and FSN is committed to being a part of that ascension and helping the university grow their fan base throughout the Northwest,” said Bill Kaczaraba, FSN Northwest’s Vice President of Content and Executive Producer. “The basketball program’s deep roots in this community are a key element in that growth and so it is our goal at FSN to remind sports fans of that history as well as introduce them to the present program and its keys to future success.”

FSN will take a direct feed from KCFT, an Anchorage-based television station, including all broadcast talent, graphics, and other features. Viewers across FSN’s five-state footprint will have access to the original broadcast in its entirety, as the Redhawks make their television debut as a Division I team.

Seattle University is becoming the fifth college in the state of Washington to reach NCAA Division I status, joining the University of Washington, Washington State University, Eastern Washington University, and Gonzaga University. The men’s basketball team will play 20 games against Division I opposition during the 2008-09 season.
