All four golfers cut at least four strokes off their first round scores as the Seattle University women’s golf team concluded play at the Western Washington Women’s Golf Invitational at the Bellingham Golf and Country Club Tuesday.

Kelsey Johnson (, ) again led the way for , shooting 83 to finish the tournament in a tie for 33rd place with a two-day total of 170. Dianne Alcantara () also completed the second round with four less strokes than the first round, posting a 90 for a final score of 184 to finish in 45th place.

Caitlin McCleary () showed the most improvement among all the golfers in the tournament, cutting 11 strokes off her first round score with a second-round 88 to finish in 46th place with 187. Michelle Grome () finished the second round with a 94 to post a two-day total of 192 and finish in 47th place.

As a team, cut 23 strokes off its first round total to post a 355 in the second round and finish in tenth place with 733. The of won the tournament with a score of 630, eight strokes ahead of . Despite a second-round 79, ’s Brittany Carrera was able to hang on to the individual title by one stroke over Christa Goldie of .

The women’s golf team will continue practicing, with the rest of the 2008-09 schedule to be announced soon.
