The Seattle University women's tennis team faced some of the best players from the Pacific Northwest as play continued at the Gonzaga/Eastern Washington Fall Invitational Saturday.
The lone victory for the Redhawks Saturday came from Aya Sugimoto (Poulsbo, Wash.), who defeated Caitlin Stocking of Portland State in the consolation bracket of singles flight two (6-4, 6-4). Sugimoto lost to Kayla Moyse of Montana in the consolation semifinals (6-4, 6-4).
Coming off their first round victory Friday, Audree Jenks (Albuquerque, N.M.) and Ariel Ohno (Kent, Wash.) were eliminated in the quarterfinal round of the doubles flight by Martyna Novak and Liz Walker of Montana, 8-5. Winning her singles match Friday, Ohno was unable to continue in the singles portion of the tournament, withdrawing from her quarterfinal match against Daniela Cohen of Idaho due to injury.
Also competing in both singles and doubles on Saturday were Whitney Cheng (Seattle, Wash.), Mikaela Peterson (Spokane, Wash.), Megan Reinhartsen (Sammamish, Wash.), Katrina Schwab (Spokane, Wash.), and Kathy Velasco (Federal Way, Wash.).
