The Seattle University volleyball team played well, but the power of the tenth-ranked Washington Huskies proved to be too much, as the Redhawks fell, 3-0 (25-9, 25-14, 25-11), Thursday night at the Bank of America Arena.

(8-1) jumped out to a quick 9-1 lead in the first set, and then went on another 5-0 run midway through the set to extend the advantage to 19-6. The Huskies closed out the first set on back-to-back kills by Jessica Swarbrick, who was 5-for-6 in first set attacks.

The second set started out in a similar way, as the Huskies scored five straight points to take an 8-2 lead. went on a 5-1 run to cut the advantage to 14-11, but the Huskies broke away, outscoring the Redhawks 11-3 to take a 2-0 lead into the intermission.

Another fast start allowed the Huskies to open a 6-1 lead in the third set. kept expanding the lead, making only one attack error in the third set to finish off the sweep. For the match, the Huskies posted a .439 hitting percentage, earned five service aces, and collected nine and a half team blocks.

Emily Deleissegues (Aromas, ) faced many of the hard attacks of the Huskies, leading all players with 14 defensive digs. Libby Graff (, ) led with seven kills and a .238 hitting percentage.

Kindra Carlson led the Huskies with 13 kills, with Airial Salvo, Jill Collymore, and Becky Perry collecting eight kills each. Setter Jenna Hagglund earned 43 assists, and Tamari Miyashiro led the Husky defense with 13 digs.

(2-10) returns to the this weekend, first to face the Zhejiang Club Team in an exhibition match Friday night, Sept. 19, beginning at 7 p.m. The Redhawks will then face #17 Saturday afternoon, Sept. 20, starting at 12 noon.
