Kelsey Johnson shot her best round of the week, posting an 81 to finish in a tie for 47th as the Seattle University golfer concluded play Tuesday in the Northwest Dodge Dealers Inland Cup at the new Palouse Ridge Golf Club.
After shooting rounds of 85 and 83 Monday, Johnson's 81 moved her into a tie with Stacey Parkinson of Weber State, each finishing with a three-round total of 249 (+36). Melanie DeLeon of Nevada hung on to win the individual title with a 214 (+1). With four golfers in the top ten, Washington State easily won the team competition by 22 strokes over Nevada.
The Seattle University women's golf team will have a couple of weeks before competing at the Saint Martin's Invitational in Tumwater, Wash. on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 9-10. Meanwhile, the men's golf team begins its season at the Saint Martin's Invitational in Olympia, Wash., next Tuesday and Wednesday, Sept. 23-24.
