In a once-in-a-lifetime gathering, many of Seattle University's greatest student-athletes came together to be honored as Legends of First Hill in a special dinner and ceremony Saturday, Aug. 23, at the Campion Tower Ballroom on campus.
Of the 46 current members of the Seattle University Athletic Hall of Fame, 28 were represented in person during the ceremony. Each Legend received a medal commemorating their membership in the Hall of Fame and was asked to wear that medal at all future Hall of Fame events.
In addition, the 1957-58 men's basketball team was honored and officially inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame. In the culmination of a weekend of events, 14 people associated with the team were able to attend, including head coach John Castellani and team captain Jim Harney. Castellani talked on behalf of the team, telling stories about each of those in attendance, as well as remembering assistant coach Vince Cazzetta and center Don Ogorek, two men who have passed away over the past couple of years.
