men’s soccer head coach Brad Agoos has released the program’s 2008 fall schedule, which includes nine regular season matches against Division I competition as the school begins the reclassification process.
To prepare for the regular season, the team will host the Seattle Sounders in an exhibition match Tuesday, Aug. 19, beginning at 2 p.m. at Championship Field, followed by another preseason match at the Friday, Aug. 22, at 7 p.m.
The regular season begins for the Redhawks in , , as they face on Saturday, Aug. 30, at 5 p.m. and North Florida on Labor Day, Sept. 1, at 11:30 a.m. The team then returns for the home opener Friday, Sept. 5, against at Championship Field beginning at 3:30 p.m.
The next six matches will be away from home for , beginning with a match against at Sunday, Sept. 7, at 2 p.m. The team then takes a trip to to face (Sept. 12) and Florida Atlantic (Sept. 14). The next weekend brings another trip to , this time to take on (Sept. 19) and State (Sept. 21).
After a trip to face Simon Fraser on Sept. 27, the team will host Cal State Bakersfield (Oct. 4) and Seattle Pacific (Oct. 14). Following a trip south to face the on Oct. 17, the Redhawks conclude the home schedule with a rematch against Simon Fraser on Nov. 1. The team ends the regular season with road matches at Cal State Bakersfield (Nov. 7) and Fresno Pacific (Nov. 10).
“I think this is going to be an extremely exciting season for the men’s soccer program as well as athletics in general. The move back to Division I has been a long time coming and our players are looking forward to the challenge of transitioning from one of the top programs in Division II to one of the top programs in Division I,” Agoos said.
The men’s soccer team finished 15-3-1 in 2007 and brings back 15 letterwinners from that squad for the 2008 campaign.
