The Seattle University women's soccer program will be hosting an Elite Soccer Camp for girls ages 13 to 18 from Monday, July 28, through Friday, August 1, at Championship Field.

This camp is designed for young girls who have the desire to play soccer in college. Each group will be trained by a current college coach and a current college player, giving campers a chance to be trained by some of the top coaches in the Northwest and to interact with some of the region's top collegiate players.

The camp will feature technical, tactical, and functional training, as well as speed work to give the campers a chance to be quicker and faster. There will also be nightly features such as panels on the college recruiting process and an all-star game. Campers are given the opportunity to Train Like A Redhawk, as the coaches and players will lead the participants through the same warmups, speed work, drills, and games that have helped the Seattle University women's soccer program become one of the best in the region.

Goalkeepers will get top-level training led by Seattle University goalkeeper coach Aron Hyde as well as other collegiate coaches and current collegiate goalkeepers. The keepers will receive instruction on the skills they need to succeed at the college level, plus they will be incorporated into team training.

"We are extremely excited to be offering an Elite Soccer Camp for girls here at Seattle University," women's soccer head coach Julie Woodward said. "The fact that girls who want to play soccer in college will have the opportunity to be trained by different college coaches throughout the week makes SU stand out in our approach to summer soccer camp. We have put together a fantastic staff of current college coaches and players, and I know that every girl of high school age will have a great experience on our campus."

For campers who want to stay on campus throughout the week, the cost of the camp is $475, with the cost for commuter campers being $275. Campers are asked to bring shinguards, water, appropriate shoes for both indoor and outdoor activities, lunch, and a positive attitude. In the case of rain, the camp will be moved inside to either the AstroGym or the North Court within the Connolly Center.

Registration is available by going to the Camps section of www.GoSeattleU.com and clicking on "Redhawk Soccer Camp." For more information, contact assistant women's soccer coach Rich Schreiner at (206) 296-6964 or rschrein@seattleu.edu.
