The Seattle University softball team was held to two hits as Cal State Stanislaus used solid pitching and timely hitting to earn a 4-0 victory on the first day of the NCAA Division II Softball Tournament West Regional Wednesday afternoon at the HSU Softball Field.

Cal State Stanislaus (31-21) received a complete game shutout from Jessica Gaumnitz, who gave up singles to Jamie Foote (, ) and Katie Gould (). Lauren Berin (Lacey, ) walked twice and Megan MacIsaac (, ) also drew a free pass, but no runner advanced past second base.

The Warriors scored single runs in the third and fifth innings to take a 2-0 lead. Catcher Jessica Scholl, 3-for-3 in the game, extended the lead with a two-run home run to right field in the sixth inning. Erin Martin () lost for only the fifth time this season, allowing eight hits and a walk while striking out two opposing batters.

(37-13) will look to avoid elimination Thursday morning as it faces beginning at 9 a.m. The Otters, who lost to 9-1 in the first game of the day Wednesday, lost twice to the Redhawks during the regular season.
