The 11th-ranked softball team took care of business Sunday, taking an early lead and allowing pitcher Erin Martin () to earn her eighth straight victory in a 5-1 win over Montana State Billings in a non-conference game at Logan Field.

started early, as singles by Katie Antich (, ), Megan MacIsaac (, ), and Jane Purdy () loaded the bases in the bottom of the first inning. Lauren Berin’s (Lacey, ) line drive off the glove of the Yellowjacket second baseman scored Antich and MacIsaac. The Redhawks added a run in the third inning when Antich singled, stole second, and scored on a double by MacIsaac.

In the fifth inning, SeattleU again loaded the bases on a walk by Kaha Weir (, ), a single by Jaime Foote (, ), and a Yellowjacket error that allowed Arianne Judy (Selah, ) to reach base. Jessica Amador (, ) singled to score Weir, and a grounder by Cassie Cueto () scored Foote.

Martin lost her shutout in the sixth inning, but still notched her eighth complete game of the season, scattering eight hits while striking out four Yellowjacket batters. Antich and MacIsaac finished with two hits each, while Kelly Parsons earned two hits for Montana State Billings (6-13).

(15-1) begins a tough road trip next weekend at Northwest Nazarene. The teams will play a single non-conference game Friday, March 14, at 4 p.m., followed by a GNAC doubleheader Saturday, March 15, starting at 11 a.m. The Redhawks will stop in , , on the way back for a conference twinbill at Sunday, March 16, beginning at 1 p.m.
