After pulling out a 7-6 victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills, the 13th-ranked softball team struggled in its other games, losing to #20 , 5-2, and , 9-5, Friday at the Mizuno Tournament of Champions at .

Seattle University held a 6-2 lead over Cal State Dominguez Hills and had the bases loaded with nobody out in the fourth inning, but the Toros held the Redhawks scoreless in that inning and came back to tie the game at 6-6 with four runs in the bottom of the inning. was able to pull ahead for good in the fifth inning when Katie Antich () singled, stole second, advanced to third on a passed ball, and scored on Megan MacIsaac’s (Santa Barbara, Calif.) single.

In a battle of two nationally ranked teams, Humboldt State scored a run in the top of the first, but Seattle University responded in the bottom of the inning, as MacIsaac singled, stole second, and scored on a single by Lauren Berin (Lacey, Wash.). would take the lead for good in the third inning when Natalie Galletly doubled to drive in Chrissy Motzny.

In SeattleU’s final game of the day, Sonoma State scored first, loading the bases in the second inning and receiving a two-run single from Carli Feuerbach. The Redhawks cut the lead in half in the bottom of the second when Kaha Weir (, ) drove in Lauren Carlson () on a single.

pitcher Simone Brandalise helped her own cause in the third inning, driving in two more runs in the third inning with a single to give the Seawolves a 4-1 lead. After the two teams traded runs, made a comeback in the fifth inning, as MacIsaac singled, Berin walked, and Brenda Stice () singled to load the bases. Back-to-back singles by Carlson and Jamie Foote () brought the Redhawks within one with the bases still loaded and nobody out, but a strikeout and two groundouts ended the threat.

pulled away again, scoring four times in the top of the sixth inning, all of those runs coming after the first two batters were set down. would score once in the bottom of the seventh, but a lineout to the shortstop ended the game and a tough day for the Redhawks.

Despite earning the victory over Cal State Dominguez Hills, Kelsey Reynolds () had a tough day in the pitching circle, giving up 23 hits, 12 earned runs, and six walks in 11 1/3 innings of work. Erin Martin (, ) picked up the save against the Toros, but then suffered her first loss of the season by giving up 11 hits and five runs to .

Offensively, Berin led the way for SeattleU, batting 5-for-9 with a .636 on-base percentage and three runs batted in. Stice had three hits and two runs scored against , while MacIsaac and Jessica Amador () also earned three hits and two runs scored during the day. The top of the order struggled, as Antich and Katie Petersen () combined to hit only 2-of-24 in the three games. However, Antich did earn her 30th career stolen base, which is now the all-time record.
