Several swimmers participated in the finals of most of Saturday’s events as the 2008 Pacific Collegiate Swim Conference Championships wrapped up at the Belmont Plaza Olympic Pool.

Chris Coley (Austin, Texas) earned another conference title, winning the 200 butterfly by over four seconds with a time of 1:51.03, with Kevin Daniels (Newcastle, Wash.) finishing fourth in 1:55.65. In the 200 breaststroke, Jakub Jiracek (, ) finished second with a time of 2:01.50, with Bryson Chiu () finishing fourth in 2:07.04 and Andrew Miron (Billings, Mont.) finishing 11th in 2:14.32.

Six SeattleU swimmers reached the finals in the 100 freestyle, with Gordon Smith () finishing in sixth place in 47.45 seconds. Bryant Bevers () finished ninth in 47.76 seconds, Chase Winterroth (Lake Stevens, Wash.) placed 14th in 49.08 seconds, Ben Guthrie (Berkeley, Calif.) earned a 17th place finish in 49.40 seconds, Andrew Martinez (Concord, Calif.) finished 19th in 49.66 seconds, and Chris Anderson (Bellevue, Wash.) finished 21st in 50.20 seconds.

Nathan Freeman () earned an 11th place finish in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:00.11. In the 400 freestyle relay, Smith, Bevers, Doug Djang () and Jiracek finished in fourth place with a time of 3:08.83. The men placed fourth in the team standings with 930.5 points, as Cal Baptist won the team competition with 1536.5 points.

On the women’s side, Kelsey Henan (, ) finished sixth in the 1650 freestyle with a time of 17:52.51, while Christina Hunsberger () finished ninth with a time of 17:57.92. In the 200 backstroke, Alex Weiss (Reno, Nev.) qualified for the “A” final and finished eighth in 2:16.19, while Francesca Reale (Gig Harbor, Wash.) finished second in the “B” final in 2:10.38 for a tenth place finish overall and Carole Triem (Petersburg, Alaska) finished 16th in 2:16.97.

In the women’s 100 freestyle, Elizabeth Hanohano (Honolulu, Hawaii) finished 22nd in 55.25 seconds, Alison Colnon (Seattle, Wash.) finished 24th in 55.90 seconds, Megan Lavin (Kalispell, Mont.) finished 29th in 55.84 seconds, Kaci Dudley (Murrieta, Calif.) earned a 31st place finish in 56.29 seconds, and Taylor Olson (Parker, Colo.) finished in 33rd place in 56.72 seconds. Triem finished 24th in the 200 breaststroke in 2:38.73, while in the 200 butterfly, Anna Vanha () finished in 17th place in 2:15.88 and Heather Nelson (Bremerton, Wash.) finished in 20th place in 2:16.67.

Hanohano, Colnon, Lavin, and combined to finish eighth in the 400 freestyle relay in 3:42.26. As a team, the women finished in seventh place with 510 points. Loyola Marymount came from fourth place to win the women’s team competition with 1212 points.

Seven swimmers, six males and one female, have qualified for the NCAA Division II Swimming and Diving Championships. Bevers, Chiu, Coley, Djang, Jiracek, Reale, and Smith will all compete at the national meet in , from March 12-15.
