men’s soccer coach Brad Agoos has announced that three student-athletes have signed National Letters of Intent to come to and participate in the men’s soccer program beginning in the 2008-09 academic year.
Johnathan Bardwell is a 6’3” forward from Seattle, Wash., who has been an outstanding goal scorer for Ballard High School, earning KingCo 4A honorable mention all-district honors. Playing club soccer for HPFC ’88, he has led the team to an undefeated league record for two years and the 2007 state quarterfinals. Bardwell is presently carrying a 3.87 GPA at Ballard High and was named the Student of the Month last December.
A 5’7” midfielder from Mercer Island, Wash., Radcliffe McDougald led Mercer Island High School to the KingCo title and a third place finish in the state during his sophomore year. He has also played club soccer for the HSA Heat ’89, the highest ranked U18 team in that has reached at least the semifinals of numerous tournaments nationwide.
Kyle Peterman is a 5’9” wing from , , who has been a two-year captain at . An honor roll student, Peterman helped his team win the district and state titles in 2005 and is a two-time all-conference honoree. Also playing for the Boise Capitals Soccer Club, he led his various teams to six state titles in seven years and has received Olympic Development Program (ODP) experience with the 2006 ’89 Idaho state team.
“This is an exceptional class and we are excited to have them coming in as we transition to Division I. John, Radcliffe, and Kyle are extremely smart, athletic, and hardworking, and they love the game. These are the things we look for in our players and I think the three of them will contribute to our program immensely over the next four years,” Agoos said.
These players will join a program coming off a 15-3-1 season which included its sixth GNAC title in seven years, its third NCAA Tournament appearance in four years, and a final national ranking of #18. In the fall of 2008, the men’s soccer team begins the process of becoming a Division I program, playing a full schedule of Division I schools during the reclassification year.
